Haggards Crowther News May 2019
16th May, 2019
It has been another busy period for the team here at Haggards Crowther with new team members, marathons, rugby days out and a number of promotions. Here’s a quick summary of what’s been happening in the latest Haggards Crowther news.
Team Update
As we continue to grow, we are regularly adding new faces and we are pleased to welcome a number of new members to the team, all of whom have joined us in the last couple of months.
- Adam Smith joins us as Client Manager in the Corporate Team
- Rob Pugh joins the Corporate Team as Client Manager
- Terry Ho has joined the Corporate Team as a Junior Accountant
- Tina Apicella joins the company as our Invoicing Manager
- Prash Basnet joins us as Practice Administrator for the Corporate Team
- Alexandra Murray joins the Practice Administration Team as a Practice Administrator
As sadly happens from time to time, there are some departures to announce too. And so it is, after more than 8 years at Haggards Crowther, we were very sad to have to say goodbye to George Parker in April. George has moved to a large City based firm in order to further progress his career and we wish him all the very best in his endeavours.
As well as George, Marios and Harriet also left Haggards Crowther in April. Marios, who joined us in 2018, has decided to leave accountancy and is heading off to another industry and Harriet, who ably supported Nicky and the wider team, has taken up a role as a PA.
Need to put a face to the name? You can catch up with the entire team on our meet the team page here.
Promotions
In addition to welcoming new faces, we are pleased to announce a number of internal promotions, recognising the hard work and dedication shown by our existing team members. In May 2019, the following promotions were awarded:
- Melania Pop becomes Senior Client Manager
- Stuart Adams is promoted to Senior Client Manager in the Tax team
- Mikesh Patel becomes Assistant Client Manager
- May Dickson has been promoted to Assistant Client Manager
- Shivali Gupta becomes Assistant Client Manager in the Tax team
- Ayaz Choudhery is promoted to Assistant Client Manager
- Era Baja becomes Senior Accountant
Marathon Men
We’re sure they have recovered now but we must offer our congratulations to two members of the team who set out to complete the epic challenge that is the London Marathon at the end of April.
Payroll Manager, Matt Lawrence, and Senior Client Manager, Jeffray Chung, did battle with the streets of London and came out victorious, posting highly respectable times having completed the 26.2 mile course.
Matt, who ran for charity, has smashed his original fund-raising target of £7,500, with the current total stood at 110% – over £8,000 – as a result of some very generous supporters. He finished the course in 3 hours 38 mins and 59 seconds.
Jeffray, who received a ballot entry, was running for his church, Kingdomcity, and completed the race in a highly respectable time of 4 hours, 27 minutes and 57 seconds.
We have the utmost respect for anyone taking on this great challenge and we hope you will join us in congratulating our two intrepid athletes.
Stuart and Alaka’s big day out
As part of our sponsorship of Barnes Rugby Club, we were lucky enough to receive two pairs of tickets to the Six Nations match between England and Italy at Twickenham.
These highly sought-after tickets were put into a ballot, open to all members of staff, and Stuart and Alaka were the lucky winners, each receiving a pair of tickets to the match.
The day was made even more enjoyable by the 57-14 result in England’s favour – a great result!
Rugby Sponsorship
As part of our ongoing sponsorship of Barnes Rugby Club, we were pleased to see these pictures of the Under 10s team playing at Rosslyn Park. Their opponents on the day were French side Stade Foyen who had made the trip from the Dordogne/Gironde region to play the match on 5th May 2019, one of the last of the season. Like the senior team, the under 10s are proud to carry the Haggards Crowther logo on their sleeve and we always enjoy seeing the name in international circles! Our thanks to Jonathan Knight for taking and sharing these shots with us.
Andrew founded Haggards Crowther with his brother in 2004 and took over as Managing Partner in May 2023. He has always been closely involved in client work, in particular providing high level strategic tax and structuring advice, business advice and supporting the technical and compliance teams.
As Managing Partner, he has focussed on growing the business and ensuring the firm upholds its core values of Quality of Service, Innovation, Collaboration and Integrity. These remain central to all that we do both internally and in serving our clients.
A Fulham resident for over 30 years Andrew is closely connected with the local business community and supporting many of them on their journeys. He is especially linked with fellow start-up entrepreneurs advising them on their growth strategies and optimal structures.
A passionate Fulham FC supporter, along with his two sons, Andrew rarely misses a game. He plays and coaches volleyball, something he has done since university in Edinburgh, and which offsets another of his passions: exploring the vast and diverse range of food that London’s restaurants have to offer.
He has a keen interest in many conservation projects especially in protecting endangered species of birds and actively supports the Mabula Project in South Africa. This charity supports the Southern Ground Hornbill, a charismatic species of cultural and ecological importance threatened by loss of habitat through the encroaching development of the savannah.
