Companies House Reforms & ID Verification Requirement

The UK government has introduced sweeping reforms to strengthen the accuracy and security of company information held by Companies House.
Effective from 18 November 2025, every company director and Person with Significant Control (PSC) must complete identity verification as a statutory requirement.
These measures are designed to:
- Prevent fraudulent company appointments
- Enhance transparency and public trust in UK companies
- Ensure only verified individuals can act as directors or hold significant control
Deadline for Compliance
- Existing company directors: You must complete identity verification before your company submits its first confirmation statement after 18 November 2025. Your personal deadline is the date your company’s next confirmation statement becomes due after this date.
- Newly appointed directors (from 18 November 2025): You must verify your identity before Companies House will confirm your appointment.
- Persons with Significant Control, known as PSCs: If you are a PSC but not a director, you must verify your identity within the first 14 days of your birth month, starting from November 2025.
Failure to meet these requirements could result in penalties, inability to file, or restrictions on directorship.

Once you have completed the ID verification process using the link above, you will receive a verification code. Please email this code to us so we can update your company’s statutory records and ensure ongoing compliance. Without this code, it will not be possible to file your next Confirmation Statement, whether we do it or you do it yourself.
